Frequently Asked Questions

1. WHAT IF MY BABY IS EARLY OR LATE?

Babies come when they're ready! So with that in mind, I only book 5 newborns per month max so I can be flexible and available for whenever my tiny client's decide to make their arrival. Once your baby has arrived you simply just have to let me know and we will schedule a session date within the first 2 weeks.

2. What is the best time to photograph my newborn?

I love to photograph newborns within the first 2 weeks. That is when they are still very sleepy and curled up and some of those tiny details are still very fresh. With that said, I can absolutely photograph babies that are a little older beautifully.

3. What should we wear?

Wear what is comfortable! Especially mama being postpartum. I have a selection of wardrobe pieces for mothers here in the studio that you will have access to. I also always recommend bringing a back up option from home just in case. I have everything we will need for your baby. For Dads and siblings, I recommend earthy and neutral tones. Think creams and browns. I am more than happy to send recommendations or take a look at any options you have at home.

4. WHAT IF MY BABY WON'T SLEEP?

That is okay! Every baby is different. Some of my all time favorite photos have been created with babies that are awake. Some babies drift off after a quick feeding and sleep the rest of the time, and some stay completely awake and alert the entire time.

Frequently Asked Questions

5. WHAT IF MY BABY NEEDS TO EAT?

Then feed that baby! When you are in the studio, we are on baby's time. We will take pause any time that your baby is showing signs of wanting to eat or needing to be soothed. I want you to have a relaxing experience and I want that for your baby too!

6. WHAT IF MY BABY WON'T SETTLE?

This is actually pretty rare for me, but has happened on occasion. Sometimes baby is just not having a good day. If we have exhausted quite a bit of time trying to soothe your baby to no avail, we will simply just reschedule for another day for you to come back. It happens when babies are trying to establish a routine and get accustomed to life outside of mom. Tummy troubles are usually why your baby might be fussy from my experience.

7. Can siblings participate?

Yes! My full newborn session option includes baby's older siblings if they have them. I do recommend bringing a grandparent if possible to help out and even take the big kids for lunch once their portion of the session is complete. I always start out my sessions doing full family shots and then siblings because little ones can lose interest very quickly.

Newborn mini sessions do not include any siblings.

8. How long till I receive the final photos?

I will have your fully retouched gallery over to you within 2 weeks of your session date. There you can download your included images as well as shop the print store attached to your gallery. There you will find several gorgeous fine art heirloom print options.
